9 to 5 and remote work, which is better?
You probably have asked yourself the question of choosing the best part for you or someone you know, who wants to make a choice between 9 to 5 and remote. It is also possible you don’t intend making a change from your present style of work, but you just want to have an idea of the nature of both type of work.
Before talking much about 9 to 5 and remote work, you should be prepared to get the honest truth, which may not be what you intend to come across.
Going forward, let’s swing along with the differences between both types of work, so we will handle the peculiar challenges that influences both types. The first we will be looking at is the desire of the person involved.
Personal inclination
Fact remains that some persons enjoy the push that comes with working in a 9 to 5, such persons may not be self-starters so they genuinely need a push from someone that is superior to them and ready to make them act rightly when needed.
While another individual may be a good starter and capable of getting things done with little or no supervision. A remote work requires an individual to be able to follow through with a project without supervision.
Therefore, if you find yourself constantly in need of supervision before getting things done, then you may be more productive doing 9 to 5.
Scalability
Firstly, it is important to note that when you are engaged in a 9 to 5, the time you spent at your work place belongs to your boss or the organization you work with, which means you are not permitted to engage in any kind of work you choose to, especially when such duties are not related with your assigned task. Which makes it difficult for you to engage in other duties that will make you earn more than what is allotted to you by your organization. A 9 to 5 doesn’t give the room to explore new business activities by travelling to a distant location and getting things done trying to build wealth.
For an individual that is engaged with remote work, it is easier for the person to scale the business and engage in several income earning activities. Scaling in remote work is also easier because the individual can decide to travel to a distant location if the need arises to setup a business at the said location.
Choosing your lifestyle
It is possible that you’ve woken up on some days and felt you should take a walk on the beach and sun bath for almost the whole day. This reminds me of a book written my one of my clients who mentioned that he once arranged for a flight to a state in US where he was to have a meeting. But on reaching the airport, he felt that the weather would be harsh at his destination. So, he decided to change his route and he proceeded to Miami since he felt the need to spend much of his time that day walking on the beach. Now for one that is engaged in a 9 to 5, it is almost impossible to follow your desire of acting how you feel or what you think is best for you.
Engaging in remote work can give you the privilege of acting based on your own choice and what you think is best for you. Now you can decide to visit Dubai or the Caribbean when you want to clear your head for few hours and continue working on your computer while enjoying the breeze from the ocean front.
The comfortable path
Honestly, getting involved in a 9 to 5 is more straightforward and comes with early comfort because you are settling in a business that has been setup by someone else and you get paid when due, so this enables you settle in early comfort.
Remote work can be tiring especially when starting out, the comfort that comes with remote work usually occurs after a good period of building a reputable business online and involving a team that frees you from the time-gulping requirement of remote work.
Conclusion
It is best to figure out what is best for you, and if you choose to combine both as some do, you can make adequate use of your time and make the sacrifices required so that you can reach your 9 to 5 or remote work goal.
